Summer is here!
(I know its still raining loads, but stick with me..) I wanted to share some essential & easy things you can to do to keep your hair lush in summer. These are tips that can be used all year round - but are especially useful for the season when the sun is strong, we may be swimming more often, or we're spending more time in warmer weather.

Tip 1 - Soak that hair!
right before you jump in the pool or the sea, soak your hair (not in the pool water!)
Your hair is like a sponge, it sucks up everything - by soaking it in clean water, it cant suck up the chlorine, reduces your chances of shiny, greenish hair & protect it from breakage. You can also cover your hair in a swim cream or leave-in conditioner as a barrier.

Tip 2 - Sunscreen
Pick up a sunscreen for hair and scalp - it protects all types of hair (whether you use colour or not) and keeps your scalp from burning. Our scalps are so fragile, and if we aren’t protecting them we are causing damage that can move to our hair. My recommendation: Ultrasun UV Face & Scalp Mist

Tip 3 - Hats
Not a hat person? Well, its time to be one this Summer! Sun damage really changes your hair colour. Even if you've put your sunscreen on your scalp, I bet you'll forget to reapply it! Carry a hat with you & pop it on when the sun starts to get stronger during the day - it protects both scalp & hair.

Tip 4 - Cancel out that chlorine
On holiday we pick up salt, chlorine and God knows what else! Using a cleansing shampoo will strip it out.
Leave it in for a few minutes whilst you wash your body, to let it work its magic too. My recommendation: Maria Nilla Purifying Cleanse Shampoo

Tip 5 - Conditioner is key
Use a professional shampoo and conditioner to restore all that moisture you'll be losing from the warmer weather. I'd also recommend a deep conditioning mask - and if you're going away on holiday, remember to pack one!
Don’t cheap out - your hair will really thank you. My recommendation: Maria Nilla True Soft Shampoo & Conditioner

Tip 6 - Cold rinses and serums
Help fight humidity with a cold rinse after washing and adding serum - lock those cuticles down! This will help reduce the frizz the best it can. Many professional ranges have a product for humidity! My recommendation: Colour Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray

Tip 7 - Tie up loosely
Don’t - and I repeat don’t - tie your hair too tight! Our hair is already struggling in the summer. Reduce breakage as much as you can with loose plaits, a lower ponytail, a fabric headscarf or nylon hair ties. My recommendation: Kitsch Eco-Friendly Nylon Hair Elastics
These are 7 simple things you can do to keep your hair luscious in summer - and to be honest, all year
round!
